First Thoughts
HUGE thank you to Berkley for approving me for this ARC as I’ve been anxiously awaiting this sequel since the first one came out! I loved Broken Souls and Bones and I knew I would love Heir of Twisted Lies, so I took a chance and emailed the publisher pleading my case. And dreams come true!
The entire time I was reading Heir of Twisted Lies, I was torn between not wanting to put it down and wanting desperately to drag it out so it wouldn’t end. Can we clone LJ Andrews so we can get endless flawless reading material?? This would solve so many of my problems.

The Story
Heir of Twisted Lies is a beautiful conclusion to Lyra and Roark’s story. Picking up right where Broken Souls and Bones left off, it leads us through a journey full of secrets, lies, betrayals, prophecies, and shocking twists and turns.
The found family elements in LJ Andrews’ stories somehow never disappoint. She introduces several new characters in this book and somehow makes us fall in love with them right away. That combined with the characters we already know and love from the first book creates an incredible family feel like we got from The Broken Kingdoms series.
The Romance
Lyra and Roark are such an evenly matched couple. That’s another thing LJ always gets right. She creates these characters that bring the best out of each other. And they aren’t perfect. They’ll bathe in the blood of their enemies (literally) together then comfort each other when they’re at their lowest.
We have to talk about the spice. LJ Andrews mentioned one of the spiciest moments she’s ever written was in this book. She wasn’t kidding! My favorite spicy scenes are the ones that enhance the love story, and you can definitely feel the love in this book! And Skul Drek… You won’t be sorry you read it. I’ll leave it at that.
Final Thoughts
When I’m reading a book by LJ Andrews, it doesn’t really seem like I’m reading. I’m FEELING. Through the entire story, I feel like I’m just as invested in the outcome as the characters in the book. Heir of Twisted Lies is no different. I could feel Roark’s pain when he was revisiting the past. I could feel Lyra’s guilt realizing all that had occurred just because she lived. I could feel the other characters’ uncertainty of the right paths to take for their safety of their families. It’s that feeling that keeps me coming back for more each and every time she releases something new.
Once again, such a huge thank you to Berkley Publishing for allowing me to read and review an early copy of such a beautiful book. All opinions are my own.
